A road accident took place early this morning on Kolkata’s Red Road, leaving a driver with minor injuries. The incident occurred around 8 am in front of the Police Memorial, a location that usually witnesses heavy vehicle movement during peak hours.
According to initial reports, two private cars were involved in the collision. One vehicle was traveling along Red Road when another car, coming from the Mayo Road direction, hit the driver’s side with significant force. The impact caused noticeable damage to both vehicles.
The driver of the car on Red Road sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was immediately provided first aid on the spot and later shifted to Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Authorities have confirmed that his condition is stable and not life-threatening.
Soon after the collision, the police arrived at the scene and managed the traffic that had started to build up due to the accident. Both damaged vehicles were towed away by a recovery van and brought to Maidan Police Station for further examination.
Investigations are underway to determine if there was any violation of traffic norms that led to the collision. Officers are also checking CCTV footage from nearby areas to understand the exact sequence of events that caused the accident.
Red Road, being a high-security zone due to its proximity to important landmarks, often sees enhanced surveillance. Officials are urging drivers to maintain extra caution, especially during early morning hours when visibility and quick turns can lead to accidents.
